Tübingen: A Guitar Festival About Tradition and Heritage
This year, the Tübingen Guitar Festival in Germany is called «Raíces» — «Roots». The organisers invite audiences to rediscover where musical traditions come from. The festival runs over two weekends in November, so it is best to check the schedule for each concert separately.

The programme is wide-ranging: classical guitar, flamenco, jazz, Latin American repertoire, chamber music and symphonic works. Announced performers include the Brazilian guitarist Yamandú Costa and the Manoa Quartet. There is an orchestral project, a flamenco-and-jazz concert and an Open Stage for emerging players.

The international competition has a place of its own, with a laureates' concert, a matinee and a closing concert for its participants.

For us, this theme is especially close to the heart. The guitar, like any musical tradition, begins at its sources: in schools, in masters, and in the people who passed the art on. The festival shows how those roots sound today, side by side, from flamenco to jazz and symphonic music.
